A letter from Pastor Susan about moving back indoors: "Where Will We Be Meeting This Winter?"
Dear Church family,
As many of you know, we met INDOORS for the first time this past Sunday, October 24, because of the rainstorm. I don't know about you but for me, it was a bit surreal but wonderful to be back in the cafetorium at JLS for the first time since March 2020. What a journey we've all been on in the past year and half, eh?
I wanted to let you know that we will be meeting indoors in the cafetorium from this time forward for the foreseeable future. We were planning on being outdoors for as long as possible, however, we got strong feedback from the children, parents and volunteers of the Children's ministry that the location they used this past Sunday while the adults were in the cafetorium was highly preferable for them. They met outdoors under the breezeway over by the JLS office where the main service had been meeting since August. Since the children are all not vaccinated yet, we want them to be able to be outdoors. Across the board, the kids really enjoyed being able to have their program closer to where the adults were.
Secondarily, it really helps our wonderful sound, livestream, and set up volunteers to have a regular set up and tear down system (rather than flip flopping from outdoors to indoors and back again).
For the sake of Covid safety, we are asking that everyone wear masks when indoors at this time. According to the CDC and County health guidelines, masks are still optional outdoors for those who have been fully vaccinated. We will also have an audio set up so that you can sit outdoors at the picnic tables to enjoy the service.
The folks at JLS have done a good job updating the ventilation systems in all of their classrooms and the cafetorium so that risks are minimized as much as possible. For more details, you can check out https://www.pausd.org/return-to-campus/ventilation
Youth are planning to be outside (in the breezeway of the 300 wing) regularly other than on rainy days (when they will be in room 130).
So that's the plan for the time being. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
